Preparation for a Painted Kitchen

The preparation for a painted kitchen does take time. The statement about the key is in the preparation really does ring true for this. When we arrive to complete your project, we will have already spoken a number of times. We aim to make sure that all questions are answered promptly and that our clients are confident about every aspect of their kitchen project.

Some clients may know the exact colour they are looking to achieve. Other’s may need a little more help. We are able to provide a sample painted door in the paint and finish chosen. This allows our clients to place the door in their kitchen. Different times of the day and different lights (artificial and natural) can make a colour alter slightly.

It is important that you are confident with your colour choice. Therefore, we will also work with you to make sure this is possible. What does the preparation look like?

Once we have taken the kitchen units (drawers and door fronts) off and removed all the hinges etc, each piece needs to be prepared. Generally, we take all drawer and door fronts to our workshop where we start the process by degreasing each piece. This is really important element of the process due to the greases that can accumulate. If left, the paint will not have a solid base and will likely peel.

From this point, each door and drawer front are fully sanded. We use different methods of sanding to make sure they are fully primed. Some of these may also need filling. This is to ensure a seamless and smooth finish once they have been painted.
